Company History

Hun Kaplama started its activity by producing Turkey's first wooden edge band in an area of 100 m2 in Istanbul Bayrampaşa by our founder Fehmi Kalfalı.

In those years, there was no initiative on edgebanding in Turkey and it was a product that was not available in the market. Fehmi Kalfalı pioneered the start of a new sector by producing Turkey's first Wooden Edge Banding from wood veneer.

In line with the demands of furniture manufacturers, Melamine Edge Bands production started. Melamine coils were imported from France, then Germany and England and started to be offered to customers after gluing and cutting.

We moved to a new place of 400 m2 in Bayrampaşa Kocatepe and the production of wood and melamine edgebandings increased rapidly, reaching a total of 1500 m2 per day.

‘’Hun Kaplama - Fehmi Kalfalı‘’ company changed to Hun Kaplama Limited Company.

Our company moved to its own place in Masko Mob. Site in Ikitelli Org.San.Region and stayed here for 10 years.

This year marked the beginning of a new era for Hun Kaplama and the wood sector in Turkey. Hun Veneer started to produce Turkey's first interlaced and sanded wood edgebandings.

Another first: The production of profile wrapping coatings in interlining and calibrated rolls started and we received positive reactions from our customers. In the same year, we started the production of Supercal's solid wood edgebandings in rolls of 1, 1.5 and 2 mm thickness.

In April, we moved to our new location on Turgut Özal Street on an area of 2,000 m2.

Production of Sokra (vertical) patterned wooden edgebandings and large-sized veneers with interlining on the back started.

First, we started to produce interlining wide coatings by interlining the coatings, which we turned into sheets with the side-by-side sewing process.

Since 1987, we have terminated the production of Melamine Edge Bands, which we have been producing continuously.

In 2023, we participated in the Koelnmesse Fair organized in Cologne, Germany.
